Help With Locating Paint?

I'm a newbied here, and I'm in need of some help, please...We just purchased a 2001 GMC Yellow Sierra Sportside for our 16 yr old son. One of the fenders was damaged so we are replacing it. Our body shop man can't seem to find the GM paint for the truck. The code is 9F5, and the color is Sunblast Yellow as stated on the code sheet and a GM Vehicle Inquiry System build sheet that we got with the truck. The code calls the exterior paint color "special", and what does that mean? Can anyone lead us to a site to buy this paint? Thanks so much for any help you can give us!

Probably what he needs is the "WA" number,This will be on the "SPID" label located inside the glovebox (Hopefully its still there)

On the label look on the bottom of it,kinda' towards the middle, you should see the letters "WA" followed by either three or four numbers, this is the code you need.

The word "special" on the GM-VIS is just that,Its not a regular color that was offered on the truck, however GM does offer a lot of colors that are not mentioned in the brochures,a lot of people have no idea these even exist and that they can be special ordered, thats why they use the term "special" on the build sheet,it also uses the term "special paint" on the window sticker.

Also,to the original poster...Let me know if you get the code,If not when I get back to the dealership (I'm off today) I might be able to get the WA number you need.

I have some charts/paint chips of special colors that give both the RPO codes and the WA codes, although I know they don't go back that far the color you need might be in them.

Hi there and welcome to GM Trucks! :) A nice truck you've got there, and sorry that you need to have a fender fixed.

Sounds like a great colour. Wow, that really is a hard to find colour.

Thanks MS3DALE, and others. Well, we looked at the spid in the glovebox. There are no codes that start with WA. The list is the same codes that appear on the build sheet that I have. Any other suggestions? I did call my local dealership and they couldn't find the color.

Cool truck, looks like a GREAT starting point. I love stepsides. I'm not a fan of chrome fender trim, though, just looks kinda out of place to me.

Once you figure out the paint code, maybe paint the top bumper pad?

Hmm....Thats weird,if the SPID label is still there, and readable,it shoud be on there,Look for the letters "BC/CC" at the bottom of the label, they should just to the left of the WA code.

If not I'll have to check my charts when I get back to the dealership.
