How many of you guys with HID have had run in's with the coppers?? What temp were you running? Projectors or stock halogen housing? Did you get a ticket or verbal warning or what? Lemme know, I just ordered the 6000K kit and want to know what to expect.

Thanks.

none in texas really care. I actually asked a APD (Austin Police Department) cop and he said so long as they are not blinding anybody and they are not a stupid color (blue purple red etc), then they dont care...

+1

My nephew is actually a State Trooper and I asked him about it and after all my research (before I called him) i ended up knowing more about the issue than he did...he was like "HID...what's that?" He basically said the same thing that he really only worries about it when they are blinding or just a stupid color. But I know that the cops around my area tend to have a rep for being strict, or just bored!!

Around here they won't bother you unless it is ridiculously bright or like others have said... a weird color. Colored headlamps are not technically legal here, so they give them a "reason" if they feel like pulling you. Not exactly my cup of tea. I like cops just fine as long as they aren't asking for my license and registration.

They will pull you for fog lights on a clear night... just like running high beams by law here. Lots of frikkin idiots here think they have to drive around "looking cool" with their fogs on blinding the rest of the world for no reason (or better yet, running them in the daytime... frikkin loser posers) Several of my idiot neighbors have received tickets for this. I just laugh at the posers. They hate me. It's mutual. They are the same people that bitch because they got ticketed in the 20 mph school zone running 30 or 40. Go figure.

Around here the law man is cracking down on them as I seen a few pulled over but those were the stupid blue looking ones. My brother-in-law is a cop and they were told to start citing people with those lights awhile back ago mostly because the people that install them dont realign there lights and blind on coming traffic. I return the favor with my highbeams on when people like that are coming towards me, bunch of disrespectful A#*HOLES.

Yip. That they do.

My ethnic neighbor across the street got a ticket for his. He drives a BMW 5 series... and I am relatively sure he leaves his fogs on all night in his garage. I've never seen the poser idiot in his car when the fogs were not on. Isn't he cool?

Last 4th of July, I lit a 100 pack of black cats on his front porch and rang the doorbell and ran off. Does this make me a bad neighbor? OH, and there was the plastic snake incident...

Wow, you folks down in Austin have a lot to worry about. Up here in redneck East Texas, our biggest complaint is still straight pipes or cherry bombs, under that is the Boom of a stereo... The lights haven't risen to the top as far as I can see.

 I'm hungry for pop corn, about to go to the football game, prolly get my fix there.

'Bonez is south of austin (i think closer to San Antonio). I personally have ran my buddys Z71 with the fogs on and never had a problem with the cops. Only reason I had the fogs on is because I wanted more light while going off road; nothing extreme - more like crossing medians and getting back to the pavement.

I have them at 6000K in my low beams and fogs and haven't had any problems at all. I was very cautious to aim them appropriately though once installed.

Unless there is a specific law against hids on vehicles where they didn't come oem, I don't think the cops can really do much beyond ticketing for improper alignment or an improper colour.

It just gives them more of a reason to pull you if they want to. Some municipalities don't need much of a reason. Cops up in Austin are pretty lenient. It's a different story up North in Williamson County or down South towards San Antonio sometimes.

amen to that. those damn williamson county cops sometimes just sit on their side of the county line and as soon as you cross, you are fair game...anal
