Yup..more Rebates For Gm Employees Now...

Recommended Posts

I haven't seen rebates, this big, in years from GM. They are really hurting bad these days, and obviously desperate to move some iron off the lots. GM Employees can now get $7000 off Reg Cabs, and $7500 off Extended and Crews...

This situation, where GM wants to literally "give-away" certain vehicles, entertains the thought of purchasing another Sierra. I've had a few posts these past few weeks where I can attain some sweet trucks for dirt cheap prices.

Help me choose one guys...I've narrowed it down to 2 right now.

Opinions??

I can puchase either pickup for around $21,000 out the door.

Fire Red, Pro with 20's

or

Burgundy, Z71, with 17's???

either one is a sweet deal. i like my 20" tires but would not want to venture off road with them. so if you do then i would go with the 17". i am glad they didnt offer more to the consumer otherwise that i would feel like i didnt get the best deal i could. although the inventory of 08 extended cabs is very limited now.

I would get the z71 package one. Will do better in the WI winters with the 17" rims and tires. I should know. Also the power seat is nice to have!!

Is are they a crew cab or ext cab.

Z71 and the 17" rims.... Tires are cheaper to replace or upgrade, and will allow for a smoother ride.. I have the 20"s and am really thinking about trading with someone for the 17" or 18" wheels..

Do it!! I did and it was the best thing I have done for this truck yet. :D

I would not put 20 inch rims on a 4X4 pickup truck if somebody paid me to do it!

Actually I have 20 inch rims on my deuce and half, except that tire sidewalls are 10 inch tall, making each wheel 40 inches high, which is perfect for off road use. You want a lot of sidewall protecting the rims. :loser:

You keep referencing this deuce and a half. Where are the pictures? You can't just tease us like that, it's the equivalent to blue-balls. :dunno:

That sounds familiar.

I drove a Sierra with the 20's and ended up going with the 17's.

It's like night and day. Originally I wanted the 20's. Looks I guess.

After a test drive there was no doubt the 17's were the best choice.

Didn't try the 18's so I can't speak to them.

Just wish they weren't General Americrap tires.

I agree...get the 17's. My '07 GMT900 had the 20s and I was never that impressed. When it came to my current truck, I avoided the 20's and went with the 17's. I am much happier with that size. I felt too restricted with the 20's when it came to driving around in the field, going over curbs, etc

it was a hard decision for me. i like the look of the 20" rims and seems i only go off the pavement 2-3 times a year. i had 17" on my last Z-71 sierra and i balded the outside of the tires in 25k miles. i tend to drive it hard into the corners. the tires used to squeal. with the 20s it seems to handle alot better on the road. plus the pro grade package has a stiffer sway bar.

Maybe a little off topic but for the ones saying get the 17's instead is this more of pointed towards off roading or just the ride in general? I was thinking about getting 20's but I will most likely go with 18's with thicker tires. And stealth... would you just pick one already :loser:

I liked the way the 20's looked on my last truck but that was it. I feel the 17's have a little better ride b/c of the thicker sidewall and I don't feel like I have to be as cautious when doing light offroading. The 20's didn't do so great in the snow last winter but I realize that was a tire problem and not a wheel problem...however I couldn't justify the cost of replacing brand new tires at the time for something with a better tread pattern.

For me, 17's are more functional although I like the look of the 20's better.
