Amsoil Test Sample

I figured a few of you Royal Purple guys would like to see this :confused: Thanks to Blackstone at least I know the Amsoil is worth it.

2003 GMC Sierra ExCab 5.3

10k miles

Same filter on those 10k miles

No oil added

The oil actually looked really good when I changed it.

No bad smell and it still had a slight golden color to it.

Overall I was impressed

Amsoil = Happy Truck :confused:

Seriously though, that's good to know. Just an FYI, they say if you wait until the middle of the drain that you'll get less iron in the sample.

Very interesting. I received my Blackwell test kit a few weeks ago, but am going to wait a bit longer before I submit it. But at least I know what the analysis sheets look like. Thanks.

Mine was down to like 18% if I remember correctly, when I replaced my AmsOil at about 9500 miles since my previous oil change.

Did you ever change your filter?? Just wondering how many do that run the extra miles with the syn oil.

Great job with the AMSOIL. I used it for a short time in my Ford Contour, but since no one sells it around here I went with Mobil1 Ext. Perf. I would have to order my oil one week and change it the next. :rollin: Didn't like doing that, also the price on AMSOIL started going up. If money and time wasn't an issue though that's what I would use.

Oh this is great info, thanks!

I've spent hours upon hours sifting through BITOG looking for this info on the 5.3, only to find lots of UOA's of under 4000 miles on regular Pennzoil? Sheesh. Recovering Amsoil addict as well... switched back to M1 due to prices. Running my last quart of Amsoil SSO now :rollin:

I paid 9.75 a qt for the 5-30 100% syn. high perf. oil Pricey yes, but worth it IMO. I change mine about 6 or 7 thousand miles and the oil still looks good. GO AMSOIL!

Considering the price tag on these new trucks, I don't think high end oil is too much... especially at extended drain intervals. I'm doing 5000 mile changes but I still believe it to be well worth the money.
