What's A Good Dog That Doesn't Shed Or Shed Very Little?

I might get a dog but I don't want to have to deal with a lot of shedding. All of the dogs that shed very little tend to be very small or just plain ugly. Are any good mid to large sized dogs that don't shed much?

labradoodle doesnt shed much and most spaniels have hair not fur, most any dog with hair instead of fur will shed less, but you have to get the hair cut once every 2 months

DEAD, STUFFED, SHAVED

In that order.

OK... just kidding. Most short haired dogs shed little if they are kept bathed and brushed pretty often. Hard to beat a Lab or a Beagle in my book.

She doesn't shed too much for a german shepherd/chow/doberman/whatever else. Its her nails and her never-ending energy that will get ya!

My Dad has a brilliant Yellow lab that is his right hand man on his land in the country. AJ (the lab) works the fence line on his land and reports back if any of the livestock have damaged the fencing anywhere. I know it sounds like an old Lassie episode but I am serious. That dog is beyond smart...

I'd bet nobody here would get out of their truck at my Dad's house unless he was there either!

Poodle, Chihuahua, definitely NOT a german shepherd.

:D Amen. I can't wait to get our new 15-week old shepherd this weekend! I'm going to live in a world of hair again. (Except the cab of the truck, of course!!!).

My dog doesnt shed but 2 times a year and just for a week!!! Its a Siberian Husky!

Do you have any pics? I always thought it was a cool dog but I wasn't sure how much it would shed with all that fur.

Beagles are pretty good about not shedding. I mean sure, he does shed a little come spring/fall (seasons change, so does his coat) but even then it's not alot. And they're a frickin' RIOT to watch run around your house when you do something 'new' to them....like set your cell phone on vibrate, set it on the coffee table, and someone calls it. I had to go outside because he wouldn't shut up last night after I picked it up.

Generally shorter haired dogs don't shed much, as mentioned above. But I prefer my beagle to a lab - labs are just too big for me.

You gotta be kidding! My neighbors Alaskan Malamute sheds 24/7/365. Though she does shed alot more in the spring/summer. The weather is getting cold here, and she is still shedding, everytime she comes over (which is everytime she sees me), I end up with hair all over me.

Maybe because she is kept indoors at night?
