All,

I gotta put a good word in for Extang covers. I know it's not the intent of this thread, but....

I have a 7+ year old Platinum Series cover (alum rails, vinyl tarp, snaps) that I bought locally. Shortly after I bought it, I had a few snaps that came apart and I called their c/s number and found 2 things...they are close to me, and they would give me new snaps to address my problem free of charge.

Recently, I was shopping for a new cover because my current one (again 7+ years old) had shrunk to the point where it was very difficult to put on in the winter because it was just too tight, even with all the snaps and cross-bows in 'winter' mode, and the vinyl was starting to crack a little. Because of how cool they were to deal with when I had the snap problem, I looked into one of their folding hard covers, but found no local dealers who had one on a truck, and I wasn't gunna spend that kind of coin on something I only saw in pictures, so I called Extang to see if they had covers on trucks that I could come down and look at (again, they're 30 miles from home). C/S rep said 'sure' and I headed down. She showed me the different covers on some of the company-owned trucks and on employee trucks and was very friendly about it. As we were walking back into the building, we walked by my truck and she noticed the cover that I had on it, and commented on how tight it was. I told her it was old and that's part of the reason I was looking at new ones. In the next 15 minutes, she had another rep (manager?) come out to look at my cover, and when I left, they had taken my address and promised me a new cover that fit better, saying that my orig tarp was covered under a 10 year warranty and musta been miscut and was too small (since I'd never sprayed it with armor-all or any other similar stuff that shrinks the vinyl). 3 days later, the new piece of vinyl arrived via the fed ex man. I now have a brand new 'tarp' that went on fairly easily in 35F weather and no real need for a new cover (the frame/snaps etc are fine). They may have cost themselves a sale of a new cover for a while, but rest assured that when I start looking again, I'll be looking at their products FIRST. Good customer service and a company that stands behind their products is hard to find.

As an extra bonus, the C/S rep told me that they make all their stuff at this location in Michigan...no imported stuff.

x2

I had an Extang soft cover on my longbed S10 when I lived in Denver. After a few winters it shrunk so bad it was unusable so I called them and they promptly sent me a new one. I was shocked. If I ever consider a cover for my Silverado it will probably be an Extang.

x3. i am on my second cover. both tuff tonnos. they had problems with it realeasing when it first came out and the pretty much sent me out a entire new kit with updated parts free of charge. Recently on my 06 Sierra i have 2 of the corner brackets come off (or stolen) and they sent them to me free of charge. They earned a lifetime customer with the support. I am now looking at the trifecta.

Extang is the way to go . I had a latch break on mine called them they sent one right out. This cover was bought for my 99 and this year we put it on my sons 96 still looking good. This one has the J rubber that slides in the groove on the rails . It really works good I liked it way better than snaps.
