Hard Knocking After Errant Wot

Well this has me losing sleep because it was my fault. Last night I was doing a little tinkering on the old truck. I started the motor to test the idle and forgot the plates were blocked WOT. Well after a second of reving to 5k, I shut her down and fixed the pedal. Unfortunately upon follow starting, I have a pretty loud knock in the motor. It sounds driver side down low, and I know it's not exhaust or a lifter tick. After a few minutes of personal time out, I went back in and started her up for another minute. The oil pressure is still good and the motor runs as normal, but the knock moves with engine speed. I am leary of running this, and fortunately, this is not my daily driver. My question-Can I operate like this or did I toast something. One thread I read suggested that some piston build up may have been dislodged. Can I drive around to a couple of shops if necessary for input. I have a guy that I trust, but he's not too close to the house. This is of course a 1992 K1500 with the 5.7 and 188K miles, but I can't let go.

Help me feel better :P , --Mike

I'll go with rod and/or main bearing. I know that sound. Rebuild time.... or crate motor.
