What American truck/car company would you kill off and what changes would you make? If I was in charge I would let that sinking ship sink called Chrysler and force GM and Ford to file bankruptcy and shut down for one week for some change. Break their unions and hire a management that knew their ass from a hole in the wall. I would also make it to get your bailout money you have to make all cars sold with a base price of $12,000 are more in the USA. That way they would have more jobs in the US and they wouldn't be stuck in union contracts that are going to put them out of business. I would hope with these changes the American car industry would survive and drive Toyota and others out of the states.

I would simply raise the tariffs on foreign vehicles. Problem solved.

Only problem is the last two Silverados I have purchased have been foreign imports from Canada. Remember the American made Tundras everyone here hates so much? The Tundra would be tariff free while GM & Dodge pay tariffs on their trucks. You can't tax your way out of bad times.

WRONG troll, they are NOT "imported" from Canada and are not "foreign". They are still domestic trucks. They support FAR more US jobs than the "US Built" Turdra does.

Hey Won, you do realize that 80% of the money required to build GM trucks is already spent before it even reaches the assembly line, right?

Educate yourself with a little reading. Canadian made vehicles imported into the USA are duty free imports under NAFTA.

NAFTA stands for North American Free Trade Agreement. So if there are no tariffs to begin with, how can you raise them? I didnt say impose new ones. Jeesh.

I dont know where the hell you bought your truck, but My Silverado, and my Suburban, and every other vehicle I have ever owned, have vins that start with the number "1". Which means "made in the USA", and since I have the build sheets for both trucks, I can tell you for a fact, both my Silverado and my Suburban wher made in MORAINE,OH, NOT CANADA!!!!! If it had been made in Canada, the vin would start with a 2, in mexico, a 3. So yes, raise the damn import tariffs.
