Bench Or Bucket?

Hey guys I am about to drive 4 hours to get a new 08 Sierra as in my previous post say. The one I am looking at is the SLE1 and has a bench seat instead of bucket. I am not familiar with the bench seat and if it has a console in the middle? I was wondering if anyone has any opinions of bench vs bucket as far as comfort goes? Does anyone have a pic of the bench seat in the 08 Sierras so I can have an idea of what it looks like? Thanks a bunch.

I have the bench seat and chose it that way intentionally. It's great, the middle seat has a fold down console with 3 cupholders, and in addition, the bottom of the middle seat is actually a lockable storage area. So basically you get more storage than you would with a console, plus an extra seat when you need it. Sorry, I don't have any pics but I'm sure someone will come through with them. Congrats on the new truck!

The 40-20-40 bench is just like having buckets. The driver and passenger seats are basically the same. You just have a seat/console instead of a full length floor console in the center.

IMO The bench site is a lot more comfotable! My knees have room as opposed to being confined in the bucket seats w/permanent center console!

My 05 had the buckets with the full length console and although it felt kind of like a cockpit, I felt more confined. My 08 has the 40-20-40 seats and I'm much happier with this seat set up.

Same here, I have a bench front seat with a fold down armrest in my crew cab.

There is a lot of leg room in that truck, and ability to accommodate up to six people if needed.

And what is so great about the FAKE wood trim on the LTZ models?

 

I have several mid 80's Mercedes cars with REAL wood trim.

I agree with Pete, the fake wood (especially in a truck!) looks horrible. Can you get it without the fake wood while still having the center console?

Nothing, but that is easily swapped out if desired. It's on my list of future mods, probably next summer.

The imitation wood trim only comes on the LTZ models. You get bucket seats without the "wood" dash trim with the LT2 package.

 

It is interesting that even the base Impala LS model comes with similar "wood" dash trim, but only top of the line LTZ trim in full size trucks gets it. In Impalas you can opt for the brushed aluminum trim, which is actually nice. That would be a nice option in trucks too.
