Air Intake Kit - Gm Performance - For 5.3l Vortec V8 Only

I've wondered about why they say this fits the 5.3 only when there are lots of folks on this board with 6.0s using this intake. I've read over a bunch of older threads and the consensus seems to be that everyone likes this intake kit.

I have it. It makes the engine seem like it is breathing much easier. Also gives an awesome intake droan.

 

I would say the GMPP intake, by itself, may have given me a LITTLE more power and a LITTLE better acceleration. Seemed to open up the engine a bit.

I'm going to buy the air intake kit tomorrow. I'm going with the GMPP one, and NOT the K&N one because the GM one is an oil-less filter. I have a buddy that runs a K&N on a 97' 350 and he has had trouble with the MAF getting oil on it in the past.

 

Anymore input on the GMPP filter kit? I'm interested to see what it sounds like.

I have the GMPP and I just replaced the filter element with a oil-less, washable/reuseable AEM "Dryflow" filter. K&N oiled filters are NOT the only choice for lifetime filters.

His decimal was simply misplaced. He meant .15 to .20 HP, not 15-20.

Yep, I have the same set-up: GMPP Intake+AEM DryFlow Filter=The Only Way To GO!

 

Best of both worlds in my opinion! A nicely made GM Intake and a Life Time filter that requires no oil!

 

As for performance, I really don't notice it that much in my daily driving, but then again, I'm real light on the accelerator to keep my gas mileage the best I can, but I did notice a significant difference while towing our TT, it definately breaths better and pulls harder than it did with the stock intake. How much HP/Torque it makes is anyone's guess, but I doubt it's in the 15/20 range claimed by some manufacturers!

Do you have a dyno chart? --- before and after the K&N CAI. 15-20 seeems VERY optomistic to me.....

I have the K&N Cold Air Intake System on my 2000 Chevy Silverado. Better #'s as far as torque, horsepower, and gas milage than other companies. There have been alot of magazines and companies to dyno K&N and I haven't seen one that says their numbers are b.s. My buddy put one on his Jeep Grand Cherokee and never had a problem with it messing with any components. I decided to one for my Neon and FZR600R motorcycle. I was so happy with the results, that I have put one in every vehicle I have bought. Had the neon for 5 yrs then sold - no problems. Currently have K&N ststems in:

 

FZR600R (7 yrs)

2000 Silverado (6 months)

'76 Corvette (2yrs)

'98 Dakota (7 yrs).

 

Google K&N website and they have a chart with most before & after dyno numbers.
