Hey hows it goin, I've got an extended Cab LT and have been considering JL subs as well. I know there are several companies that manufacture the boxes specifically for the crew cabs and extended cabs as I'm sure you're aware if you've been doin some research. The main problem I ran into was clearance issues for mounting depth for the JL Audio 10w3v3's under my extended cab back seat. If you go with the 2- 12's make sure airspace is correct since you dont wanna run under if you can help it. There shouldnt be a problem with the 10's. I'm not sure if you've got a good local shop in your area that you'll be buying from but there are plenty of deals here online to get the good quality stuff for less $$. What kinds of mids and highs were you considering for the truck.. I'm still up in the air trying to decide.

yea i've been online and i found about 2 or 3 ideal boxes for my subs and amp under my backseats. yea i and about the breathing for 2 12's i thought the same thing as well im leaning over on the 2 10's side right now because jl audio have some good quality 10's still and of course cheaper than their 12's. There are a couple shops i can go check out but most likely ima get something i pick up from online. what exactly were u looking at right now? or debating between

Mids and highs I was leaning towards the JL's, however no local shops here in my area have them so I could hear. I was lookin at the JL C5-650 because they had really good reviews, however they are a little pricey, but found em on ebay for allot cheaper than retail. For the extended cab doors I'm not really concerned with seperates and was probably gonna go with the JL VR600-CXI. I allready bought an amp the kicker zx350.4 to power the mids and highs and the zx750.1 to power the subs. I just like kicker amps. For head unit i got the Kenwood DDX6019. I dont have anything yet, and everything is bein shipped so i cant wait for it all to arrive.

yea that sounds good let me know how that sounds when u get them because i probably wont by mine for about at least a month but i might go to some shop around and listen to some of them before i actually decide to by them online so i can know how they r before i waste my money. how much r u paying for it?

if you go to JL Audio's web site, they make a stealthbox specific for the truck. I am having that model put in my 08. I had JLAudio amps in my previous truck but this tinme I am going with Kenwood Excelon's becuse they are digitally controlled.

o alright i'll go check that out. yea i was trying to stick with some jl audios but i've also been looking at some kenwoods and other stuff to so im debating what to get right not but if any1 has any good 12's i kinda would perfer 10's if u have any good systems and recommend them feel free to post em up

JL Audio makes good stuff, but not for the ridiculous prices they ask for. I would look at brands like Diamond Audio, Image Dynamics, Resonant Engineering, etc.

you can rule out the shallow mount sumbs tho they might not have a deep mounting depth but that doesnt mean they wont get what you want done done. i have a buddy with a 96 single cab gmc with 3 10 kicker shallow mounts hooked up to a 100 jl amp...loud. you might wanna check into the shallow mount when you get a chance.

After reading this post it reminds me of a few years back when I first got my truck and went straight to cartoys to get a "system". When I first walked in I had a one-track mind of wanting to get 2 10" subs and a custom box for my truck. Of course my dad was with me and didnt see the point in this. He convinced me to spend less money on the subs and invest more money on a new deck and replacing my 6X9 in the doors. After watching cartoys put in my system in and seeing the speakers that came out it made me realize how cheap the stock speakers are. I don't know how much money you have to spend or if you are even on a budget but my 2 cents are that you think about replacing your head unit and your speakers; when you have all that amazing bass coming out of those subs, I believe it will be difficult to have crisp mid and high freq.....

thanks for reading and hope everything works out!!!

keep me updated
