Headliner Squeak

I have the harness under the headliner squeak in my 900.

 

 

Is this one of those things where having the dealer drop the headliner to try to fix it is worth the long term ramifcations?

 

Asked differently: Is the cure potentially worse than the disease in the long run?

 

(Asked differently)^2 : Is this one of those things where things will "never be quite the same" if they pull it all apart and put it back together?

 

 

I'm asking because I have NO expertise or knowledge in things "interior trim"

Not sure if this is the same or not but I had a noise in the headliner of my CC, I dropped down the light over the rear seats and stuck my hand up there and there is a block of foam when you reach forward. I pulled it out and replaced it with a Adam's detail sponge as I wasn't sure if it needed something up there or not. No more noise !!!!

very interesting....how did you "drop it down"... is it just help in there by tabs which you kinda yank it down, or is there and additional trick?

Just used a small flat blade to open it from the passengers side, two small tabs. Fold that straight down as it acts kind of like a scissor on the drivers side and the whole thing drops down. then reach forward and you should feel the rubber block. I drove around for a few days without anything up there and it was great, I don't know what the purpose of it is so i just stuffed the detail sponge up there to have something up there. I'm available if you need me to talk you through it.

I had a headliner squeak right above my head. On my last 300 mile trip it drove me nuts. I am also nervous to take it in because I think it would never be right. What about using a seringe (needle) and injecting some glue?
