What winchs you all like? I got a Warn winch in the garage. the thing is I dont know if my dad will let me steal it or not. But what do you all recomend for basic light duty stuff, like getting my butt unstuck.

What are you going to mount it to?  Do you have a grille guard, if so what kind?

I was on the warn website, and they have a hidden mount thing for the new body style chevy's and it is pretty sweet, but I want a grille so we'll see.

You will not be disappointed in the Warn. I still have the first one I bought in 1977--a model 8274.  From one A2000 and two A2500's on ATVs to an M12,000 on a Hummer, I have never had a failure.  If you ever have a problem, Warn will stand behind their products.  I know of two people who admitted to be the cause for the damage and Warn still sent them the needed parts for free and well after the warranty had expired. The GM hidden kit will accept up to the HS9500.

For some good, basic winching tips, go to Warn.com and look on the right side for a link.

Get a good snatch block and you will double your pulling power (your line speed will be 1/2, but the strain on the will be halved), a good tree-saver strap instead of a chain and a one or two shackles (or some call them a clevis).

I cannot see owning a 4WD without a winch. You will never own another without it!  Good Luck.
