I am looking to convert my 96 5 lug suburban to a 6 lug so that I can fit newer model Chevy wheels. What is the best way to go about making this happen? I've been to www.airbagit.com, but they sell there adapters for about 89.00 per adapter and 129.00 for a custom adapter.

I think that what you found might be the cheapest way to go about it.. But I wouldnt recommend it just for safety reasons considering load over weighing those adapters even if you only transport passengers...

As far as the rear end you might check out www.accuautoparts.com and see if there is a replacement axle shaft to go from a 5 to 6 lug... I think that there is but just check it out...

This is a terrible idea.

Adapters are NEVER a good idea... sortof the Kmart of auto accessories.

I'd recommend one of the thousands of 5 lug wheels available.

You can get new axle shafts that are 6-lug but they won't near as cheap as those.

I'd sooner spend the money on axle shafts knowing I was safe rather than putting those adapters on that are a disaster waiting to happen.

Hi there and welcome to GM Trucks! :D

:lol::cry::cry::lol::D:D:withstupid:

The adapters may look like a good idea but they aren't. Spend the extra and do it right with new axel shafts and avoid headaches down the road. You should be able to pick up some from junk yards for less $$$.
