Perfect Exhaust Setup

Planning on spending some xmas funds on an exhaust system for my truck :]

I have a 08 NBS Silverado and am looking something loud and powerful. I was considering running cherrybombs or glasspacks but have heard that they really takes away from your low end power as there is no backpressure.

I have been also looking into borla and magnaflow, but they are REALLY pricey. Anyone got a hook up or group buy :sigh: And these systems are definitely going to provide the power, but are they going to be as loud? Suggestions?

Thanks

I have glasspacks on my '07 and didn't loose any power down low. Are you planning on going true duals or just having one glass pack and a y-pipe after? If you go true duals, make sure you put in an x-pipe to help with exhaust scavenging otherwise you will loose power down low.

Also, if you go glasspacks, you might want to consider a tune to disable the AFM. When you're going 65+ and the AFM kicks on, it is enough to make you want to jump out the truck. If you can handle it, you're more of a man than I am :sigh:

I just bought a GM Performance Parts system (made by Borla). It is loud when you stomp on it but quiet while cruising. They are pricey, but I got a good deal on it on Ebay. I am waiting on my exhaust tips to arrive so that I can put up some more pics and sound clips.

If you want loud, which it sounds like you do, I wouldn't get the GM Accessory exhaust. I've heard it on many Silverado's and it doesn't do anything for me. Like I said, I have glasspacks and that isn't even loud enough for me.

I have a single 3" Dynomax Bullet out the side in front of the passenger tire. I love it and have noticed no loss of backpressure. In fact it is better than my previous 2.5" SIDO 14" Magnaflow. Again I love the sound, even in 4cyl mode. At $59 for the muffler you can't beat the price either.

AFM?
Active fuel management. it runs as a v4 and v8 to save fuel. which i do not think it is on mine except when I am going downhill.

I've got a corsa db universal muffler that sounds pretty good...loud when you stomp it and you can barely hear it on the interstate...not sure if thats what you're going for.

Sounds healthy to me :gmc:

Nice, it sounds like a lot of ppl on here are happy with the dynomax bullet. Did you just buy the muffler and take it to a local shop for them to bend the tubing and weld it all together?

It would be nice to just get a bolt on kit, but they definitely break the bank!

Does anyone have anything to say about borla?? It's pricey but I've heard its among the best. I could pick up a dual set-up with a Y pipe for about $750 :gmc: haha

If you want loud i'd go Borla or Flowmaster (pricey but good quality)

Go True Duel and dump it behind your cab, and slap some headers on it and it'll scream plus increase horsepower.

If you want a loud bolt on kit get MBRP. They are a good price and are just as loud as flowmaster and alot louder than a magnaflow catback. The pipes are mandrel bent unlike muffler shops too.
