Are Leaf Springs Interchangeable ?

I've got a 97 K1500, and the leafsprings are sagging. I would like to get some replacements from a junkyard/salvage etc ... Anyhow, will springs from a newer generation fit? Say an 05 2500? I know they're more HD, and will give a slight lift, which isn't bad at all. Will I have fitment issues? I don't want to modify any, just straight bolt up. Thanks for any info!!!

no, i believe they will be longer (the new ones)

Never tried it. I'd measure a set and see. I'd bet your local salvage yard could tell you if they will swap... or at least let you look at one and decide for your self.

I'd like to know too! I have a set of 3/4 ton rear leafs from a 2009 GMC laying around. Would like to put them on my brothers 84 C20.

Just get your current springs re-worked at a spring shop. No fitting issues to worry about. They can even add a leaf while it is apart.

I had the set on my '59 reworked and a leaf added. Got a little to crazy on the re-arching. I had to use a chain and bottle jack to flatten out the set so I could mount it. The arch made the two mounting points closer together.

All said and done, no regrets.
