Common opinion here is that it will fit on the rear but not the front due to larger front brake hardware on these trucks. I don't know it this is fact.

They changed to 17 inch in 2005 because of a rotor, brake caliper change

FACT. My 2006 Sierra SLT Extended cab 4WD came with the OEM 20" chrome rims and they leaked due to corrosion at the bead seal area. (I'll make someone a GREAT deal if they wanna try to repair and use them.) I needed new rims so I bought some 16" OEM Chevy rims at a swap meet because I like them, but I was real new to the truck and believed everyone who said they'd fit. I tried and they WILL NOT clear the front brake rotors. I subsequently found some used 17" Denali rims that look and fit OK. Polished aluminum and I don't like them that well, but it's OK for now. I still have the 16" OEM Chevy rims to get rid of also....

NBS Silverado's come with 16" standard, 17" as an option. It should fit fine as long as the bolt pattern is the same.

 

My 08 NBS 2500 has 16" on it now.

And don't the 2500's have larger discs yet they can fit the smaller wheel? I know the 3500's have larger ones on all 4 wheels for sure.

HD trucks run front hubs that space the rotors and mounting surface farther apart so the calipers are further inboard. That permits the relatively skinny rims to clear the rotor. Light duty trucks are engineered with the right components to run a lot of inset on the wheels. That's why they fit so well in the fender wells. When diesel bubba's jack their rides and stick on oversize wheels, they wind up with wheels that stick wayyy out the sides because they have no other choice.

Thats exactly why,The Hybrid's still used the smaller front rotors/pads/16" wheels.

 

The AWD trucks also used the smaller rotors/pads.

 

They also have rear discs,where the other trucks have rear drums.
