Freezing Childrens Toes

I think I saw something on this before but I lived in San Diego then and it wasn't a problem. Now I'm in Maine and it's a problem.

 

The rear of this 07 Crew cab has no heating vents for the rear passengers. While the wife and I are sitting in our heated seats and turning down the heat,"cause it's just a little to warm". My kids are complaining of frostbite in their feet.

 

I think the tahoes and suburbans have rear floor vents in addition to the roof vents, correct? And these trucks are the same as the pickup, correct? Then this has to be possible, has anybody done it? Does anybody have access to the part numbers that would be required to run the floor vents?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated by my children....and my conscience.

The SUV's have floor vents under the driver and passenger seats blowing back in addition to the roof vents.

Sounds like an awful lot of trouble (and expense - separate controls, blower, etc)..

 

Why not just point the middle vents towards the back seat, when you two get "warm enough"..?

Slide the seat forward and take a look again. There are vents under the front seats. I feel like my back seat are heats up very well.

 

When its really cold I put it on a combo floor and dash, aim the vents to the back and it warms up/cool off very quickly.

Slide the seat forward and take a look again. There are vents under the front seats. I feel like my back seat are heats up very well.

 

When its really cold I put it on a combo floor and dash, aim the vents to the back and it warms up/cool off very quickly.

They eliminated the A/C vents, but the heat ducts are still there.

I know what the OP is talking about

 

A few years back, when I owned my 2006 Sierra Ext Cab, I had a similar situation.

 

The truck had a full console, from the factory. The console had "floor-heat vents" equipped in it; they were located at the back side of the console, above the cupholder.

 

No matter what I set the HVAC controls on, I got absolutely No heat and No Airflow at all from those rear console vents. Something defiinitely wasn't assembled right from the factory...or it was missing parts.

 

Didn't matter though...nobody ever sat in the back, and I only owned the truck for 14 months...

But seriously, my 08 EXT Cab has vents under the front seats pointing backwards. Check and see if yours put out any hot air.

The center console comes out pretty easy. If you have vents pull the console and make sure the ducting is unobstructed.

I almost had to say that to both of my parents today. We were coming back from my cousin's house, and my Mom's sitting in the front seat of the truck, my Dad's in the back. I had the heat on both the floor and dash vents, which was working fine for me. Then my Dad asks me to put it on the 'foot' setting. Well, my Mom didn't like that, so she asked me to put it on the 'face' setting.

 

My Dad from the back, "But my feet are cold!"

My Mom, "well, if the rest of your body is warm, your feet will get warm."

"But my feet are cold now."

 

This went on for a couple minutes until I put the A/C on full cold. My truck, I'm driving, the heat goes where I want it.
