1996 Gmc Z71

Rolls over intermittently and drags voltage on gauge way down in the process. Starter pulls the same amount of current on the test bench as a new one (although this is without a load). Installed a new battery but the symptoms remain the same. This problem has occured before but magically disappeared once truck was towed to mechanic's garage.

Any direction would be appreciated.

Have you pulled the starter and had it tested yet?? Sounds about exactly like what mine would do when it suffered from heat soak...It progressively got worse.......

Have you checked the ECM in the distributor?

I replaced the starter but it didn't solve the problem. I guess I'm going to the distributor now.

Have you checked the ECM in the distributor?

No I haven't but I will as I was going to check the distributor next.
