Hi all, new guy here. Ran across your site searching for info on a truck i am thinking about picking up. A friend of mine has an 04 Envoy XUV with the 5.3 in it and heavily loaded, he is wanting to do some trading with me on it. The XUV is near showroom perfect with extensive service records (fresh synth every 3-4K miles but has 130K miles on it) he is wanting to swap it for a pair of trucks i am selling and a few grand ($3k from me). My trucks are a 99 Explorer that has 144K miles but is still nice and a 96 S-10 Blazer also nice but high miles. My trucks have a value of about 2K each.

 

 

Anything i should look at on the XUV? Any common problems?

 

Seems they dont hold value that well with prices i see on ebay and around. am i wrong on this?

 

BTW my screen name derives from another website i am on seriousoffshore(dot)com where it has to do with my choice of fields. I build and work on custom offshore powerboats . . . . just incase anyone wondered :thumbs:

Since you would basically have 7 grand in the Envoy I can't see how you could go too wrong if it is what you want. the 5.3 is a solid 250K and more engine typically. Other stuff could obviously go wrong but it seems like a pretty fair deal. The Envoy would have to be exceptionally clean for me to do it.

Thanks, yea the mileage doesnt really scare me because of the condition and documented history of the truck. I was also a body man in an earlier life and am familiar in how to asses a vehicles overall condition. This is truly a very very well kept truck. I thought 7K was a decent deal to. Current owner is really motivated as he feels he can sell my two los $$$ trucks easier and hit the ground running with the 3K. I am good with the deal.

 

Was there any problems with this platform or any thing that would tend to go first? I do like the truck and can see it being handy to have the rear lift gate arraignment that they have. I also race an offshore supercat and was looking for a multi use truck to drive to the sites.
