What Is A Gmt800 Vs Gmt800? Which Do I Have?

I just bought a new 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500. It has the Vortec 5.3L V8. I have been doing a bunch of research on this forum and have seen mention of GMT 800 and GMT 900. What does that refer to and how do I determine which I have? Which is better and why? What are the differences? Thanks, Brian.

You've got the GMT900. It's the current bodystyle/platform that your truck is built on. The GMT800 is the previous generation.

Its the model. You have a GMT900. The previous model was GMT800 (99-2006ish), the one before that GMT400 (90's model).

That lingo makes it a ton easier to talk about trucks besides i have the new body style or the old body style or the NEW new body style so its just easier that way
