Lifting Wipers Up On A 04 Denali

got some snow and ice today and wanted to lift my wipers up so they wouldnt freeze to windsheild and noticed that the wipers wont lift up past 3 inches. is there a special trick to get them to lift up and stay up or do they just not do that?

Not that I know of, my 04 silverado is the same way.

They just don't do that....Had an 01 Silvy that the wipers came up all the way on. Forgot and left them up after washing....raised the hood to clean the engine compartment and had instant scratches on edge of my hood. Maybe GM got complaints on this and changed it for a few years.

 

My 07 VMaxx wipers come up all the way but I keep that in mind now.

Yup...........The 04s only lift a few inches.

 

My 01 and 07 gmt-900 lift and lock fully upright.

On many types of wiper arms, you cause damage by keeping them in the up position for long periods of time. The spring is there to keep pressure down onto the windshield to help provide a good wipe across it. By frequently stretching out the spring by lifting and keeping the wiper arms in the up position, its going to over time effect things.

 

Just a thought.
