I am looking to upgrade the single disc CD player in my GMT 800, 2006 Silverado. I recently test drove a 2006 Suburban that had the factory NAV unit in it. I really likeed it. I have found a radio on E-bay just like it, it looks like a simple plug and play sorta deal.

However several similar units on e-bay said you have to have Bose for them to work.

I emailed one of them and they sent me link to one that they said would work without bose audio. Then they through in a disclamer that it might only play up to about 1/2 volume. If that were case could I not just add a small 4 channel amp to take care of the problem.

It was said it had came out of a trailblazer. The radio is a GM Part Number 15800000

I put that part number in my 04 Avalanche, but it had Bose. It just plugs right in. You can remove the dash pad and put the antenna in its proper spot, or just cram it between the heating ducts and the bottom of the dash panel, which is what I did and it worked fine. You will probably have to get the theft lock cleared at the dealer. I can't help you with whether it will work or not in a non-Bose truck. You can check out at the Avalanche site, lots of smart people over there also.

Thanks for the antena tip. The guy I talked that had it listed said it was the same unit that he had in his 2006 Silverado, and that his was also a LT1 without bose, he said he only had about half the volume level he had before. I mentioned that about adding a small 4 channel amp to compensate, he said that was what he was planning to do to his as well.

It is my gues, that the Bose system trucks, must have an external amp, and that must be why you loose volume when you hook it to a truck without the bose sytem. He did also mention that about taking it to the dealer to clear the lock. That they would provide the salvage info for the trail blazer that it came out of, along with recipts and everything needed to prove it was not stolen to the dealer, so that they would unlock it for me.

If you can get a hold of this guy off ebay "maxpower_mi" he is the person I bought mine off of. He knows how to program them, I've read he can change the radios between Lux models and premium models. Maybe he can do something for no Bose.
