Clear Paint Protection

I was wondering if any of you have the clear paint mask installed on your trucks?

What did it cost?

Does it look good?

Some in here use it. Of course they swear by it. (but haven't had it on long)

The 3M stuff seems to be the best. It's almost invisible until you get up close... then it looks like a section of paint that isn't as glossy. I understand that it still yellows and gets brittle after a few years though (even though 3M claims this isn't so) Last year (08) our shop repainted the hood and fenders on a 2 year old 911 because it couldn't be removed without leaving paint damage...

Sort of hard to buy that it protects the paint from much other than rock chips if 2 years later it screws up the finish.

Just my 0.02

A few guys on different forums have put it on their hood instead of putting on a bug shield. If done correctly, it should be VERY hard to tell its there. Also, go with the 3M brand.

I was looking at the 3M stuff. I need to protect it with somthing. my 01 got really chipped up in a years time from all the HWY driving I was doing.

I dont want to use it if the film turns brittle.

I guess ill have to do some research before I jump into it.

I have it on my Cadillac. I really like it.

I have the 3-M Clear Bra.

After 52,000 miles there is NOT ONE DING on the hood, headlights or front of the mirrors. You can feel a lot of rough places in the Clear Bra, where rocks and stuff have hit it, but there is not one ding on the actual paint.

Can't say the same thing about the chrome that goes around the grill. It has tiny little pits all over it from road gravel and debris.

The Clear Bra has done a good job. I really debated getting it, but now I am glad I did. Hopefully it will bring a little more on trade in that way and will offset the cost of me having it put on the car, plus the car looks a lot better without a bunch of rock chips in the paint.

At the center of the hood...it extends up about a foot. I also have it on the bumper, the front painted part of the outside mirrors and some EXTRA HEAVY film on the headlightsgrey_loader.gif.

I also had him custom cut a piece to fit all the way across the TOP of the rear bumper, so that the bumper doesn't get scratched from putting stuff IN and taking stuff OUT of the trunk.

Maybe one day we can have the whole car done. They wrap nascar's anymore in that vynil wrap. Then we could change colors when ever we want .

I have a 2008 SD / white. I have full front end Xpel, https://www.xpel.com/default.asp, and it was worth every penny. $699 istalled, 7 year warranty.

I had someone rub up on my upper and lower bumper. Also srcatched the headlight. It costed $300 to replace the film with damage but the film kept from having to repair the bumper and replaced the headlight.

3M is the best brand to get, i did a lot of research on it and comparing it to other brands. I have it on the hood, headlights, front center bumper. Also plan on the lower rocker panels this spring. YOu can put it on yourself VERY EASY to do. You dont need to pay anyone if you take your time and read the directions. Get it on ebay, just make sure it says 3M. You cant tell its on there till your right on top of it. Make sure you wax it too!
