It couldn't be the fact that a few who shall remain nameless are sarastic SOB's now could it? lol

My question was, do you agree this guy's style is sh*t compared to what I asked for, and am I right to bail..nothing more nothing less. I don't care if this is something you would do Jeff, I enjoy showing my truck at truck shows and like to be different (as you all are aware of, hence the gg you al hate).

I understand that Umberto, but my point was...why paint the OEM plastic crap? If you REALLY want to stand out above all the others, make some really cool custom shrouds from scratch out of aluminum or something.

I am going to the World of Wheels custom show tomorrow and I will be taking alot of pictures. I bet I see exactly ZERO customized factory plastic crap under the hoods.

I bet you see a lot of custom paint jobs though. A metal shroud..ho-hum. Anyone could do that, I made unique metal gap guards..whoopty do. Custom paint jobs get the wow factor if you have ever been to bike shows and such.

Why not do both? Metal is paintable/airbrushable you know. That is what I meant in the first place. A nice shroud, madefrom scratch, then airbrushed will look FAR better than any piece of crap molded OEM plastic shroud that has "Vortec" molded/embossed into it and then airbrushed.

As they say, you can polish a turd all you want, but it's still a turd when your done.

I don't know, Jeff, I kinda like the idea of the stock one painted. Custom under-hood stuff is hard to make look clean, which the OEM stuff does, but it just looks tacky. I think once it's painted, it'll be a cool look.

Never said it would be "easy", but anyone can do "easy".

Umberto, do you have an aftermarket CAI, or are you using the stock intake setup? If you are using an aftermarket CAI, then that rectangular opening in the front of your stock engine cover that is no longer used already looks tacky. This should be reason enough to dump it if you are planning on showing your truck. Hell, I don't show my truck and I think it looks tacky on mine.

Umberto, I think they look good and I understand why you would want to custom paint your plastic. Fabing up your own sheet metal pieces is more of the old school hot-rodder scene. As for what we all think, I don’t know. It looks like quality work and thinking how a judge would score your truck and how normal people will view it, I think it’s good. However if you don’t like it, your not going to want to pop the hood at shows, so what’s the point?

I agree ryan. That being said...

I found the real deal this time. Talked to some people on an airbrush forum with some airbrush artists and told them about my misfortunes and they recommended someone who's hungry for work and what's funny is while googling last night I saw his stuff on flickr and I was in awe of his work before they even recommended him to me.

More of his crazy work here:

Just talked to him on the phone and he's gonna hook me up, and looks like it's not gonna cost much, and his paint skills are off the hook. Look at his work and tell me he's not the guy for the job. I may help him out and build a web site for him too if things work out as planned. Time will tell, we see...

This response is SO LATE. But in response to Umberto's post. That first picture you posted is my paint job on my motorcycle. I happened to see it pop up on google. So I had to check it out. Thats how I came here. This not a truck but it is my paint on my bike. Just so you know my paint job on my bike was NOT CHEAP! I MEAN NOT! You could buy a nice truck for the price. Thats 1200 hours of air brush work. But its nice you like it. My bike is a show bike. Its been on pro circut for 4 years. With that said its never lost a show, nor has it ever lost a paint award. But you get what you pay for, and that bike has a lot of time, and BIG bucks in it. Heres some pictures. Hope you guys see this. I try to post another post incase this one is burried. If anyone want to know my painter, and I have two to be honest. feel free to ask. Michael Walter
