Plastic Engine Cover

I was finally able to track down the annoying intermitent vibration in the truck.

I tried the fix that was posted on here, zip tying the cover, and it is mostly gone but still occurs.

Can I just take the thing off and run without it?

What purpose does it serve anyway?

thanks

If you're talking about the plastic cover over the intake... no harm in running without it that I can see. It's just window dressing to hide the plumbing & electrical.

That plastic piece is what holds the warp core in place  , and removing it, well, Scotty ain't gonna be happy. Okay, it is only for looks. If it rattles, get rid of it. I for one like a rattle, bump free ride when I drive. If so much as a pencil is rolling around somewhere, I will stop the truck and find the friggin' thing and make the bad noise stop.

Don't do it!!!!!! The proper performance of the AFM lifters depends on that cover! It keeps them warm!

It's actually there to modulate the compression ratio of the cylinders. It uses the air flowthat passes over it to create a vortex that varies the pressure on the CRM (compression ratio modulator) the CRM then varies the stroke of the piston to either increase or decrease the compression ratio based on torque demands.

LOL nah just kidding, it sure makes it look pretty though.

Why not find out WHY it's rattling and remedy the cause? Is a rubber bushing missing? Harness interfering with it? There must be a reason it's rattling, this is not a common issue.
