Center Console Safe

Hey everyone.

 

Does anyone have any experience with this Aries Lockbox? I've had some trouble actually finding someone who has used it before but it looks like a good thing that would fit in the center console of my truck. I'm interested in how good quality it is. It has a mounting bracket, but I'm concerned with what exactly I'd be mounting it to in the center console?

 

Does anyone have a picture of the BOTTOM of a center console or a picture with the center console removed? I'm interested in knowing if right underneath the plastic bottom of the console is metal or if there is a gap under there.

 

I want to make sure if I mount the bracket there, it will be secure and not screwed into plastic and just rip out if someone really wants the safe.

I bought that Lock box. It does not fit in the console in my SLE2 (bucket seats). It would fit under the back seat, but I chose not to mount it there. It is now mounted in the storage compartment in the back of my Acadia. It works excactly as advertised in that it easily unlocks from the base without unlocking the box. It holds my Beretta 92 and an extra mag quite easly (I have a CHP). I went another route in the Sierra http://www.center-of-mass.com/Store_InCarGunSafe.htm

 

 

The box is mounted to the plastic console. The cable is secured around a steel brace under the dash.

How good is the mounting hardware? Thats really my main concern, I want to make sure that bracket is secure so someone can't just yank it out of the console.

The hardware is adequate. I just want to point out that if you have this console, it won't fit.

Oh really? Thats the console I have. Is it too tall?

I think it was too wide. I really tried to get it in there, even considered some cutting. The picture in the add must be a Ford or Toyota.

I purchased an electric lock box (gun safe), and mounted it on the center floor (front) area. I didn't want to drill into the floor, so I drilled a hole on the safe, and ran a nice thick cable under the safe, and directly to one of the seat brackets. The safe is nicely secured, and you cannot see the cable at all. Also, I have the ebony colored interior, and the sage is all black (except for the logo), so it looks really nice. Most people don't realize that it is not suppose to be there. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

Whats the word on the pic's? Also, whats the brand name of the safe you got?

Here is the gun safe I have on my truck. I attached using a thick cable I purchased from Walmart. The box comes with two small holes in the back to use a cable they sell, but I enlarged them, and used the thick cable. I got it at academy. Here is the link for the stock photo. The photo in my truck are a tad dirty because my dog steps on it anytime he is in my truck. I would highly encourage you to go this route, as it has worked great with me.

I did notice that you have a different type of console, so it may not work exactly like mine, so you may have to install it somewhere else.

With 20+ years in law enforcement I've never seen a better product. I've put a console vault in all my past trucks and they have performed flawlessly.

 

My NBS 2007 Silverado LTZ has the center console vault with the combo lock. I like it because it has room for my off-duty gun, extra magazines and a couple other off-duty neccessities. It's on the pricey side, but worth it if you carry.
