Drivers Window Noise

I have an annoying problem with the drivers side power window squeeling. My '07 nbs Silverado regcab has been in the shop 4 times to fix the squeeling. The dealer lubed the window guide rails but the problem comes back after a couple of months. As you can guess i'm getting pissed at these idiots. Has anyone had this problem? Solution?

I feel your pain, it took 2 1/2 years for my dealer to fix my driver side window squealing on my 05. They really like to use that dry silicone lube and say problem solved, even though it would come back within a day or two. Every time I went in for an oil change, they would ask any problems and I would reply steering clunk and drivers window squeal. They finally diagnosed the window channel rubber as being distorted and replaced it under warranty. Also got the steering shaft fixed too. Good luck.

There is a TSB about this and I had it on my 08. I see they already tried that and it failed. Try complaining up the ladder such as to the service mangager or go directly to GM. Tell them if they don't fix it right you WILL lemon law the truck. 4+ times in the shop for the same reason is more than enough to lemon law it in Illinois. Check online for what your state requires or talk to a attorney (it's free). I'm sure once you throw that out there they will be more than willing to bend over backwards to get it fixed right.

I have this problem with my driver and passenger window. Guess I'll mention it the next time I take it in for service.

What was the TSB about? It would be nice to know the cause of the squeal before i go back to the dealer. I'm thinking the window guide rods are bent or installed wrong.

The TSB said something about adding more grease or a different kind of grease. It was something like that. They did all 4 of my windows even though only 1 was doing it and I never heard another peep out of either of them.

If they already did that and it came right back, then I would think something else is wrong with them.

I'm sure eventually someone here will produce the TSB and show it to you (if were still allowed to do that). Either way put your foot down and tell them it's their last chance or you will speak to a attorney. I'll bet they fix it

I had the same problem with my 08 and the driver's windows squealing. I took it in and they said there was a TSB to replace the weatherstripping. That solved my problem.

Same problem....

Truck has been in once for this issue,seemed to fix it for a few days then the noise came back.

Dogs for blocks must cringe when I put down the drivers side window!!!

Mine as well after it got cold out here. Thanks for the info Pingee about the window channel rubber. Good to know if the lube doesn't fix it. BTW, here is the techwiki link to the TSB

Thanks for the link. Dealer has been lubing the rails without removing the regulator but i don't think thats the problem.

I took mine in and they said the tint was causing the noise.

Mine (2007) is making the squeel as well. If I pust against it just a little with my elbow it will come down quietly. That was I don't get embarrassed at a drive thru. Very frustrating.

TSB 06-08-64-035E may take care of this squeak. The dealer applies 3M squeak reduction tape to the top of the door frames. It cleared up the squeaks with the doors in my ext cab 2007 nbs.
