I washed my truck today and looking at the front bumper I noticed a effen dent. I know where it came from too, I only have about 2 1/2" in front and 2 1/2" in back clearance when I pull my truck in the garage. I have a 2x4 on the garage floor that when my front tire touches it I know to stop. One day a week or two back I never felt the board and slightly taped the back wall of my garage. I never saw the dent until today. I guess it's not real bad but, it sticks out like a sore thumb to me on my otherwise perfect truck. I would post a pic but, have never been able to re-size one for this site.(other sites that don't make you re-size, it's no problem).

Basically do you think on a 08 Sierra chrome bumper would I be able to pound it out with a rubber mallet? It's a shallow dent and there is no crease or anything. Or would I screw it up more and should just learn to live with it? Also, how much would a body shop generally charge for a basic dent popping?

These bumpers are like paper thin.

Why not... If it entertains you!

I used the search button (for once, ha ha) and it seems like pounding it back out is a bad idea. Can paintless dent removal be done on chrome?

Ok, we established that the horse is dead and GM bumpers suck and are made of tin foil but, nobody knows if it can be fixed or not? I googled PDR and it seems like they don't do chrome bumpers for some reason. It is the weakest dent ever. It just sticks out like a sore thumb on the chrome.

Has anyone ever tried to pop out a very shallow dent in chrome?

The EXACT same thing happened to me. I asked a body shop and they said it can't be popped out because the chrome would crack? I took a mallet and banged it out from the back side (reach down in front of rad). It looks better than it did but still not perfect.

Do you have a pic of how it looks now that you tried to fix it? Do you think it's worth the chance of cracking the chrome or should I just leave it? Like I said earlier it's a very shallow dent but, it is ugly.
