Has Anyone Removed Their Glovebox? (07+)

I am sure I can figure out, but if you have. please post how. If I get the day off tomorrow, I am starting my install tonight! Trying to verify I have all angles covered! Will probably mount the XM module behind the glove box. I looked for a few minutes in the dark and didn't see an obvious way to remove it.

Thanks!

What is it that you're looking to do? The XM Module is accessible without actually "removing" the glove compartment. Just open the glove compartment, empty it, and if you look "up" inside of it, you'll see a plastic "tab" sticking out... Push that back and the glove compartment should be free to flip down out of the way. That should give you access to the area where the XM Module is located.

I am looking to have more access to the dash for running wires and securing all of the adapters I need to secure. Thanks!

The top one is held in with two torx head screws and clips. Open lid, remove screws and pull firmly.

Let me say it another way... "What are you doing up under there?" Someone here may have done it before and have suggestions on how to make the job easier.............

I will be zipstripping all of my wires to things and securing the modules for the aftermarket headunit integration and mounting the XM module from Pioneer somewhere and I will need to mount a speaker somewhere in the dash.

Oh, ok! Have you searched or looked in the Audio/Video forum? You might find more helpful info in there, too... Best of luck! :)

You might not have to worry about any XM stuff.

That stings like a kick in the Jimmy. Thankfully my subscription expires just after the next roadtrip vacation

"IF" you want to renew it...it is only $77 bucks a year.

21 cents a day.

Yep, I got literature from them as the cc I used last time expired, so they included renewal pricing that was just a bit higher than the $77 I paid last time. Needless to say, I'll wait til they throw that offer my way and more importantly til I see if they'll be here a year from now.

You actually can just use the ZWINBACK code and say you got it in the mail a while ago...

i actually explored the idea of putting it behind the lower glove box, I tried every position but the glove box wouldn't close. I ended mounting it just below the lower glovebox up underneath the plastic cover... I also drilled a hole in the left corner of the upper glovebox and fished the ipod/usd cable through there and stashed the wires in the upper glovebox. Both antenna's went in the dash just underneath the center air vent by the light sensor. Theres a clear shot through the windshield for signal. All the adapters fit nicley back behind the radio, there is plenty of space there.
