This whole thing about want the autopsy photos WILL lead to more grief for the family I think, if it happens.   If they are released, you can bet they will get into the wrong hands and make there way to the internet and all the BS tabloids.

Thank you for writing regarding the autopsy photographs of Dale Earnhardt.

The Earnhardt family has suffered a terrible tragedy, and I believe their

wishes should be respected.

 

The Florida Constitution affords public records very special protections.

While I appreciate the importance of making public records open for

inspection, there should be limits.  I will be working with the Florida

Legislature to pass a law to maintain the privacy of autopsy

photographs so the Earnhardt family and others who have lost a loved one can

avoid needless suffering.
