Question for Friz

Well Friz, since you have more racing experience then most on this forum, I have a question for ya.  I am wanting to get myself a car to run at the local dirt tracks around my area, and think I found a good division to start in.  I was wondering if you could check out the rules for this division and give me some feedback on if you think this would be a good place to start.

I do have a possible car lined up (81 monte carlo) that is sitting in my uncle's barn, that I can get for free.  This is what almost all the guys at the local track run.  The car has a 305 which wouldn't work for this class, but the transmission, rear end and everything else is still intact.  Would it be better for me to build a car myself or buy one turn-key?  I might be unsure on some issues, but my dad and uncle ran cars when they were younger so I would have plenty of help.

Oh and one last thing, what is the best way to get my ole man to approve this?  I'm tired of him saying NO!  :( Thanks in advance.
