I found this on another forum, its a test between the Tahoe, Expedition, Armada, and Sequoia. All I got to say is that it wasn't good for GM. The thing I found the most hilarious is you always see the GM adds about there mpg and this showed that the Sequoia with the 5.7L and a 6spd trans got the same gas milage as a Tahoe with the 5.3L, AFM, and 4spd trans

Quick Summery

#1 Toyota Sequoia

#2 Nissan Armada

#3 Ford Expedition

#4 Chevy Tahoe

(Hope this isn't a repost.)

It's not.

That's not unexpected because of the 6spd advantage of the toyota. If the 5.3 had a 6 spd attached, it would of had better mileage. :dunno:

I agree the 5.3 would get better gas milage with a 6spd but I found it comical that GM always boasts about their mpg rating and put down toyota for their mpg rating and when it came down to real world driving the toyota averaged the same mpg as GM without the retarded AFM.

I "think" the recent ads you're referring to for GM are for their hybrid SUV's, compared to the other manufacturer's non-hybrid SUV's. That hardly seems a fair comparison, but all the manufacturers do that.

I think I've seen Tundra ads claiming "most horsepower in its class," but when you read the fine print, it says "comparison of base engines and drivetrains." They all do tricks like that, comparing their best stuff to the competitions' inferior stuff.. :dunno:

Yeah I know the companies are always trying to one up the others. I was referring to all the Howie Long commercials about the Silverado compared to the Tundra. But either way companies are always going to be bad mouthing one another so :dunno:

That 6-spd can only deliver better mileage if geared for mileage. Toyota's problem with fuel mileage comes from the 4:56 axles behind their 6 spd, negating the 2nd OD advantage. The 5.7/6-spd Tundra I test drove a couple years ago was a running fool but turning way too fast for good mileage.

The Tundra does seem to fair pretty well against the 5.3 in mixed driving, but highway speeds above 70 mph... it starts to show worse performance. It also seems to take a while to warm up, since folks are reporting significantly lower numbers for winter short commutes than what the 5.3L does. They're putting out an additional 65 HP across the rpm range though and getting decent mpg numbers with that 5.7/6-spd combo... impressive.

Um, the Silverado and the Tundra are NOT suvs. duh!

THANK YOU, Jeff! I was thinking the same thing! He's talking about SUV's and then throws pickups into the conversation about "what he was talking about"!? :troll:

Motor Trend has Toyota's tool so far down their throat they can't think or see straight.....

:dunno: I've noticed that..

Didn't Toyota win like truck of the year or something a year ago? isn't this the same truck where the tailgate welds break apart when you try and load something into the back of it?

All I know is my real world experience. My best friend has a 5.7l Tundra (and yes I am still friends with him... :dunno: ) and of course I have a 07 Vmax. I regularly average 1.5 to 2 mpg better than him.

Regardless of mileage, even if my truck average 5mpg less than his, there is not a single thing on that truck I like as well as mine. Looks, interior, ride, bed/tail gate that flaps in the wind, etc.

And I agree a better comparison would be a 6 speed to 6 speed comparison.

Yes I am highly aware that the Silverado and Tundra are not SUV's but they run the same setup as the SUV's (Motor/Transmissions) as to why I commented on the trucks. Duh!

And I agree a better comparison would be a 6 speed to 6 speed comparison.

I also agree a 6spd to 6spd comparison would be better but at the time the people at GM had there heads up there butts and didn't make a 6spd trans.

Regardless of my comments about the Silverado to Tundra, the article still shows how bad GM is doing. I personlly love the way the Tahoes look and considered getting one for my wife but that has since changed.

Even if that is true why didn't the GM place higher than last. :dunno:
