Z71kris Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 http://www.turnoverball.com/news_details.asp?id=247# WOW, is all I have to say!!
superjim Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Very cool. If more companies would / could do that..it sure would help the economy and everyone involved.
ryan_hermanutz Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 B&W will have all my hitch business now. That is the kind of person that makes this country so great!
Roofer Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Great!! This is just what the libs want us to do. Start sharing so they can take more of our money for special interest. I don't agree with people doing things for free. Generosity is great, but they are just taking a job from someone else.
ryan_hermanutz Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Ummmm. I think they are helping out the community, paying for things that others cannot pay for. B&W is the largest employer with only 180 employees in a town of under 2,000 residents.

Why make a political statement by labeling it with "libs"? Besides, whose job are they taking. It seems to me the things they were fixing and working on, had been unkept. Who else was going to pay to have those areas spruced up? I guess I don't understand your position on this.

Roofer Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 It's on MSNBC for one.....that makes it political IMO. How would you like this guy sending some of his people to do work that you do for as living? Free of charge........... Now, who would hire someone when they can wait for something like this and get it for free. If he wanted to help out, he should have hired some contractors with his own money, instead of paying some factory workers to do things they are not qualified for. Kinda makes me feel like I over paid for my hitch.
ZZ327 Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Now, that is a good boss and company. I dont see how theyre taking away jobs of other people, when those jobs probably wouldnt have been done in the first place. Hes keeping his workers busy and will probably get money back through his taxes. How is that bad, and why do people always think they need to be paid for everything they do? I even have a little story for you. I once told a guy I work with that I helped a brother in law of one of my old college buddies. Pick up a engine from where he bought it at his work, to his house 20 miles away. My co worker asked me what I got paid!.. I said hell, I did it free because I couldnt take money for something like that and I am a car guy. The engine was going in a cool rat rod international pickup. He just looked at me puzzled. I dont see how its political either, its just another news source. Why should he hire sub contractors over his own local employees that would just be sitting around?

Kinda makes me feel like I over paid for my hitch. This was a small town and I seriously doubt anyone was lined up to do any of that work anytime soon. He was simply helping out his small town community. I suppose you are also against volunteer work that helps communities. What about court ordered community service for criminals, is that bad too?
Roofer Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 It's called personal responsibility. If you cannot afford it, you don't get it. If it was necessities like food or clothing, I would be all for it. If you didn't understand my last post, there is no hope for you seeing it that way. As a business owner, I see things a little different than someone who is an employee.

ryan_hermanutz Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 It appears that they didn’t NEED it, but that making the community nice and keeping 11% of the community working and able to pay the bills is way more than personal responsibility.

Roofer Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Since you are calling me out Vmax.........what do you do for a living? Do you think this guy's insurance company knows about his employees climbing ladders, handling chain saws, etc....Do you think they had to pull any building permits? Does the church have a policy covering someone on a ladder painting the soffits? Money changing hands is what keeps this country moving.
