Gm Cargo Mgmt System With Tonneau Cover?

Good Morning all-

I am curious if the CMS that you can get as an accessory will fit in a new body style truck that has a Extang Trifecta cover?

Its an odd combination. I do like to put the cover on for trips and such to give a little more covered storage. However 75% of the time the bed is exposed.

I looked at alot of the pics on the forum of the Cargo management system from GM and it is hard to tell if the rails they have will make it so a cover will no longer be able to be placed on the bed rails.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Well, I don't have the extang trifecta. So, I can't directly answer that question. I would email or look on extangs website.

But I do know some tonneau covers will work with the CMS. I have a TruXedo Lo Pro with my CMS. I did have to order a specific part number to get it to fit. It has a special clamp to work with CMS.

I love my TruXedo by the way. Very good quality and easy to install.

Quite a few people in here have a soft cover with the cargo system. Most covers mount in a similar way so I doubt there would be an issue.

I knew I was going to catch hell on that.

It's off now, I put it in storage with Rich's wheels...yeah that's where its at. And my camera is there too, so I can't take pictures. :jester:

Thanks for the replies. The pics are helpful. I have had good luck with the trifecta brand so I would like to stick with it especially like the way you can fold one section at a time.

Does anyone regret the CMS and wish they didnt bother with it? It just seems like a good starting point.

btw..you guys remove the bowtie off the tailgate? I was going to take the 4x4 stickers off the fenders but never thought to pull that badge off.

Wow..I just checked out the CMS on the gmaccessory site and was amazed it also says you cant use the system with a spray-in liner. Thats odd.

I know a lot of people that are using it with a spray in liner.

I just checked out the two covers that are mentioned in the thread. They seem to fasten down with velcro and no clamps?

I could be wrong with this assumption. The Extang Trifecta actaully clamps to the bed.

btw..I like the bare tailgates. Just never thought to remove the bowtie but it does look good. My 2006 doesnt have a giant bowtie in the center and it looks alot cleaner.

I have the Extang Tri-Fold. When I bought it they asked if I had the CMS. Although I don't, I asked what the difference is and they said the clips that hold it down are a little different. They had several boxes in the store some with the CMS, some without. It is definately possible to put it on, you just need to order the right kit.
