Gmc Navigation Question

I have a 2004 GMC Yukon Denali. I do not know if this is due to the navigation system itself or the version 2.0 disc that came with it but the vehicle must be at a complete stop in order for changes/modify any input (ie. a new address). Is there a code or disc level that will allow for on the fly changes or is this a drawback of the system itself? //

That's a safety issue built in. I don't know of and OEM system that you can enter addresses on the fly. Not, saying there is not, but I thought it was law.

You can get what's called a "lockpick" to enable address entry on the go.

From what I have read, the Coastal Tech seems to be about the favorite one out there. Here is a link...Click Here

Cool...Thanks man! I know that the Magellon systems can do it and as I've seen it and I don't think it was hijacked knowing the technical abilities of the owner. I see what the site link you posted has to say about it for mine.

my wifes Honda nav system allows for certain changes on the fly, but it is limited somewhat. I forget all the details as I prefer to drive the truck most of the time

The newest updated disc for the GM Nav system frees up a number of options but you still cannot enter addresses on the fly.

You do not need to spend that much money for a lock pick. There is a speed sensor wire that goes to the radio head, put a switch under the dash that interrupts the circuit. When you want to input the info just flip the switch. When you are done, flip the switch back. Total cost: about $5

Has anyone tried to copy a Navigation disc? I have thought of it so that I can keep the original from getting scratched up.

Can someone tell me of a website besides GM NAV Disc Center that will tell me all versions of a Navigation disc that is compatible with my 2004 GMC Yukon Denali? GM Nav only tells me the latest and greatest which is Part #25956245 Ver 7.3
