Pcu And Engine Swap

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi all.

I replaced the stock 350 in my 1999 C3500 pickup with an HT383E GM crate motor.

The GM technical stuff that came with the engine advises recalibrating the PCM in order to get the full power output of the new engine, but provides no details. Neither does the dealer that installed the engine.

Being firmly rooted in the age of carbs and distributors, I'm not all that clear on the concept.

Where do I go from here?

Yep, the dealer or someone with the appropriate access will need to download the PCM tune for your engine from GM, then will have to flash the PCM in your truck with the updated software.
