I was doing the first oil change on the truck... checking out the underside while the oil drains out. What are those two exhaust pieces between the cats and the muffler? Don't tell me this is more emissions equipment... I hate emissions equipment... crap that is not really needed but goes out as soon as the truck is out of warranty.

The downstream O2 sensors? If that's what you're referring to, it's to check to make sure that the cats are actually working.

The pipes? J/K

What year is the truck? Only the GMT900's have that flex section, correct?

If you are talking about the big, ugly gallon paint can sized monstrosity ahead of the braided flex pipe, I believe it is a resonator. Because no one had listings for a 2009 cat-back I bought a 2008 cat-back. Well, it don't fit. $600 bucks down the toilet. That's okay, it goes along with the 2008 GMPP cold air intake I bought that also doesn't fit because they changed the MAF sensor location. It also goes along with the ARH longtube headers and catted Y-pipe I bought that don't fit because there is no flange anymore between the Y-pipe and catback, just that stupid flex pipe. Maybe I should sell my 2009 and buy a used 2008 so my mods will fit.

yeah, the paint can sized thingy (good description)... so I have a resonator and a flex pipe... sweet :D at least its not a third cat.

Jimmy, why wouldn't the headers, y, & cat back fit if you replaced everything together?

Sorry to hear all of your mods don't/won't fit, but damn, didn't you do any research?

Hey Matt, you got it right. What I have to do is replace the exhaust front to back as a complete unit, not individually. I had planned on installing the catback first and then installing the headers once my engine is broken in.

I tried to do my research but no one had any info for 2009 model years yet. All the vendors said 2008 parts would fit. I ordered the exhaust and intake before my truck was delivered so I couldn't actually eyeball anything. GMPP's own listing says the CAI is for 2007-2009 GMT900 trucks. I took it back to the GM parts dept and we went out on the lot and popped the hood on a 2009. They confirmed it wouldn't fit and gave me my money back.

I had the same issue with the GMPP intake and they did credit that back. I am not sure why the exhaust wouldnt fit. The only reason I could see would be different size or lenght from the cat back. The resonator can be ditched. I have ditched them on cars before. I havent looked that carefuly. I did speak to Corsa and they said the exhausts fit so lets hope they arent like the GMPP website!

Just an FYI I looked at the CorsaPerformance website and they are listing systems specifically for the 2009 truck and they are now breaking the 07-08 out also. Its not a 07-09 listing. I assume this means you can get a system from them.

WTF a resonator, isnt that for a rice grinder or something. why would a V8 need a resonator............FLEX PIPE! one more thing to burn up?

The flex pipe allows the exhaust to flex with the chassis, thereby reducing stress on the exhaust system and mounting points. Nothing to "burn up."
