Bye bye AFM, I won't miss ya!

And more kudos to Justin. I sent my ECM out last Monday, he received it on Thursday and sent it back out Friday and I received it today. Slapped it in, took it for a drive and WOOHOO no more V4 Mode.

Thanks Justin....you ROCK! :rollin:

Or you could have used your future sense and seen that the 6.2 was coming out in the sierra 2 years ahead of time and got the truck i am getting

You COULD'VE just gotten a Denali from the beginning and not had to mess with that AFM business. :rollin:

Yes Michael, we have been through this before. I considered the Denali, as it was about 3K more than mine. But I wanted real 4wd, not AWD and that grille is f*cking ugly!!! Also wasn't a big fan of the painted bumpers.

You didn't sound that way when you called me on my cellphone enroute to Owatonna last fall wondering if you were gonna make it.

I have a full time V8 from the factory... and I like it. :D

I still need to get off of my butt and install my gears and get it tuned... I've only had the gears since before Christmas. :rollin:

LOL! If I don't get it in gear... maybe so. (pun intended) I bought a set of Richmond 3.73s to replace my anemic 3.23s but that's as far as I got.

Damn gears are going to rust if I don't get them installed huh?

Where's Pete (pm26) I'm sure he'll have something to say about AFM.....

I was actually looking for a way to disable AFM by using the factory wiring schematics. AFM is a VERY TOUCHY system...and the way AFM is wired from the factory...turns out you really can't screw around with it too much. AFM is looped into so many other systems...it's pretty neat actually how GM wired it up.

What isn't too neat are the side effects of AFM...vibrations, chuggling. Stuff that the factory r and d team SHOULD HAVE noticed before these trucks were sold to the public.

I sorta lost interest in the whole AFM thing after I sold the 08 Sierra.

I don't know. I still don't think it is healthy for a V-8 engine to run on 4 cylinders.

I have only had my truck for 3 days now so and the AFM isn't something I have been reading up on here yet.

I drive a 09 Impala at work everyday and never notice any issues with the AFM, it is seemless. While driving my truck I do notice a lag a lot of the time. Is this other issues with the programing such as TM, or is this usually AFM related?

Does anyone have any real world numbers on the difference in fuel econmy with it disabled? Just curious. I will likely be getting a tune in the future, because I have read it is night and day difference.
