My navigation display is set to auto but it doesn't dim to the night mode at night. I have to switch it to night mode for it to be dim.

Does anyone know why or how to correct it?

Also I am looking for a PDF manual for the navigation. On the GM Owner Center I was able to download the owners manual but they didn't have a link to the navigation manual.

Push the button on the right side of your steering wheel, the one with the face, till it beeps, then say DISPLAY DAY MODE. If you want it to dim, say DISPLAY NIGHT MODE. You can adjust the auto mode to your liking. Just say DISPLAY AUTO MODE.

I know about doing that. But I am trying to find out why the auto mode doesn't dim when the lights go on? I just rather not have to tell it to switch or do it through the menu 2 times a day.

I know there is an update for some of the older navigation units that the dealer needs to install. If I remember right, this is one of the fixes included in the update along with some other ones. If the unit is under warranty, have the dealer take a look.

I assume you have the auto headlights that come on when it gets dark.

Do they work properly...ie...do they come on automatically when it gets dark?

The auto dimming of the nav screen is controlled by (I think) the light sensor in the dash that controls the auto headlights. In other words...when you headlights turn on automatically...the NAV screen should dim.

I have a PDF of the 2006 Cadillac NAV manual. I am not POSITIVE, but I think it is the same NAV system that is in the 2007 GMC.

PM me your e-mail and I will send you a copy of it.

Also as someone else mentioned...check with the dealer to see if there is a firmware update available for it.

Well the headlights are on during the day instead of parking lights but I guess thats normal for the newer vehicles. But when It gets dark the dash lights come on so I am assuming that it is working correctly. I will contact a dealer and ask about the firmware updates though. And I PMed you.
