Minor Problem On 09 Silverado

I just had my 09 up on the rack putting a borla exhaust on and i was only able to put the muffler on because of a 3rd Catalytic Converter after the x pipe. The muffler shop would not take it off because of regulations. If i did cut this off myself and install the rest of the cat-back system would it void my warranty, would it even be worth it? Would it throw a Check engine? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

You sure that wasn't just the resonator? My 6.0L has one right before the muffler.

No, it looked like a really thick pie pan in the middle of the pipe. I had the muffler guy look through the pipe and it had a brick in there. I'm wondering how much performance this is costing me?

Interesting, seems like GM changed a bunch of little things on the 09's. Kinda screwing themselves if you ask me. The MAF sensor is now built into the tube so CAI's are not going to work either.

Would it throw a Check engine...IF it is a Cat, then it probably will...as said above, it could be a resonator? Any suggestions...be happy with just the muffler for now?

I was able to put a CAI on it, i just had to cut out a portion of the tube that the MAF was in and re-use it. It looks a lot better, i have better bottom end and getting almost 1mpg better even with my foot in it. I have an appt. sunday with a rep from blackbear in my area, going to get justin to tune the truck for me and get rid of about 80% of the god awful torque management

Not enough to worry about. Your truck was designed to run with them. If you want performance, don't worry too much about the exhuast until you start making some other engine upgrades. Go get a custom tune (check...Blackbear performance, Wheatley Performance Tuning, Etc.).

EDIT: Didn't see that you already had an appointment with blackbear...Good Job

have an appt. with one of justin's reps in my area on sunday. Going to get the scan cable done and swap out the cores. Getting rid of about 80% of the god awful torque management.

A lot more bottom end from the CAI?

You will be very happy you went with a Blackbear Tune. He made my Vmax a new truck. Justin is a great guy to work with.

Its not a lot more, but it is a noticeable difference in the 1200-2000 RPM range, i am hoping i will be able to take advantage of the extra airflow with the tune, i have heard great things about his tuning.
