Black's a color, right? The OEM 6" steps went on super easy, as did the bedrails- I love the fit of factory stuff!!! Still doing the freak about the complexity of the 2" drop shackle installation- we'll see on that one (this pics hides the jacked-up rear). Tailgate only has the long word left on it and looks much cleaner- I fall in the "some debadging" camp.

Thanks guys. I can see that this is going to be somewhat of a styling-affair in coming months/years and am trying hard to keep it "sano". One thing that I do need is a Line-X (extra). I'm thinking color matched, but to greystone or silver birch or similar, instead of black granite. The interior is titanium(cloth) FWIW.

Thoughts? Is that a "south of the border" sounding idea? I have enough black going on, so I figured that would keep it "lighter" overall.

Daddy- I agree about the bowtie; gold just stands out wrong. How paintable is that badge? Can't do anything cheezy here....

Painting the bowtie is cake! It pops right off. Scuff it, prime it and paint it.

Truck looks great!

Very. A little sandpaper, adhesion promoter, paint and clear is all you'll need. I just painted two of them on my dad's Tahoe a few weeks ago. It's not a problem at all. The bow tie up front is held on with two nuts and some double-sided tape. Remove the two nuts from the back and then pull carefully. Paint it up and work in reverse!

Did you remove the one from the tailgate? If not, you definitely should.

As for the Line-X idea, I think as long as you only go under the rails, it'll be fine. I've seen it done somewhere before and I didn't think it looked bad.

Some painted mirror caps and handles would finish off the look nicely, BTW.

Complexity? 2" shackles?

What install article did YOU read? Those things are easy-peasy-pie man. Doubly so if you have impact tools.

Yes the plan was under the rail on the line-x, also as there are OEM rail caps that blend in nicely. The downside to painted mirror caps or bowtie is that a lovebug's guts are a bitch; they etch any painted surface they're splattered and cured on.... I'm sweating the front bumper corner covers already. Maybe I'll just switch them out for a HD's chrome one. That is one better thing about the GMCs for sure.

Tailgate bowtie was the first mod done, and happy about it. FWIW, I just saw a new Tahoe today with that same bowtie, on it's hatch just above the plate recess.... looked like a gold wart. What were they thinking...?

Wingnut- In looking under there today, I see that the whole hitch would first have to be removed so that the bottom shackle bolt can be removed inboard of the hanger. Then it's just a matter of raising the leaf up towards the bed to get clearance for the top shackle bolt to be removed in the same inboard direction. If the nuts were inboard/boltheads outboard it would be a snap. As is, either bolt will hit something( hanger upper, hitch lower) before it is removed completely from the shackle and hanger, and nothings going nowhere till at least one bolt is removed. If I'm incorrect on this, anyone, let me know- I learn something every day

Here's an example of what color-matching can do for the look. This is my dad's Tahoe.
