WTH? Why in the hell are simple one-button remotes $40 freakin' bucks?

For the cost of a few remotes...I could just buy a whole new opener!

GRRRRRRR....There's got to be cheap universals out there or something. That's recockulous.

What kinda opener you got? I have two remotes (Genie, I beleive) that I have no use for. They were for the garage at my house in New Orleans. I didn't even realize till a few months after moving here that they were still in the car. I threw them in a drawer of my tool chest and they been there ever since.

I'd bet there are a bunch on Fleabay. Probably some used ones as well.. Hell they last forever unless they are abused.

It's a Chamberlain Liftmaster..

All good suggestions...Thanks guys

New place only had one remote when we moved in, so that one goes to the wife.

Mike, I recently bought a pack of 2 Genie Universals, and programmed them for the Overhead Door opener I have in this rental. They are small, so I can keep one in my riding jacket, and one in my truck. Lowe's had them for $29.99.

I will be so glad when I buy the new house...

I don't think that Genie remotes will work with it...But this thread has given me hope that I'm not going to drop over $100 on opener remotes (one for each of my vehicles, plus a keypad on the house).

Keychain option sounds interesting too.

Do you have the Homelink buttons in your truck? If so you can program those to operate your grage door opener. (not sure how though, look in your owners manual)
