Alternator Whine?

Hey guys, I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado that has started with some interesting new noise inside the cab lately. Now that it is getting warmer outside, I seem to get the radio fan coming on an awful lot. Almosty as soon as I start the truck sometimes, but it does not always come on. However, I am hearing what sounds like alternator whine iside the cab as well, that seems to be worse when the truck is cold. If I turn the radio off, the noise is the same, it doesn't go away. Any ideas? If it is alternator whine, is there anything I can do about it or just deal with it. The noise doesn't really bother me, I just don't want it to be something bad happening to the alternator. Maybe it's a radio issue?
