07 Nbs Wt - Rusty Wheels

Hi all,

I don't get on too much anymore, but wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone had any opinions on what I should do. The wheels on my 07 Sierra NBS have begun to rust. It's not due to chipping or scrathed paint, etc. The paint is bubbling and rusting where it bubbles, etc. If I could post a pic, I would.

My service manager said in instances like this, their directive is to send photos to the zone manager (I think that's who he said) for a decision. I was advised today that they declined to replace the wheels, saying that rust is covered only on body panels, etc. Now, my family owns 3 nbs' and our service and relationship with our dealer has been nothing but stellar.

The truck has been on the road 19 months and has seen two winters. It's washed/waxed/detailed religeously. One would think that I'd get at least 3 or 4 years out of them before they went to hell. Every other WT I see doesn't seem to have this issue, so I'm thinking it's an obvious paint defect.

Any thoughts on how to nudge GM into maybe taking a second look, or replacing these outright?

Thanks

Bumper-to-bumper means just that; outside of tires, windshield wipers and fluids, of course. Keep trying, they'll replace them.

+1 on that, if it were the "bumper to bumper from the top of the tires up" warranty, then it wouldn't be covered.

Thanks for the replies! I will try another dealer. There's a couple of addresses/phone numbers listed in the warranty section of the owner's manual as well. The more I think of this, the more I pi**ed off, and even if they never replace them, I'll have the satisfaction of blowing off some steam I guess.

Also wanted to share another point my service guy said today as well. Apparently they've had a bunch of trucks come in with bad weather stripping along the door sill. Mine was all split and was rusting. Funny though, my son's and daughter's trucks don't show this. They're gonna replace the stripping on both sides. But he showed me something even more disturbing, when we popped the sillplate cover off. It was totally corroded, wet, and really nasty. I cleaned that up and sprayed some CRC Marine Grade grease in there (similar to Wellworth's Mighty Grease or Lubrimatic's Corrosion Pro). A little PM goes a long way I guess.

Thanks again - I appreciate you guys' opinions.

Kill the neighbors dog.... he's whizzing on your wheels. The acid in his urine is eating the metal... GM will not pay.

I know winters are harsh there but this is unacceptable. If the wheels are rusting due to a defect (and not somebody's dog) then I'd make them fix it or go straight to the regional GM service rep with a complaint. As part of their dealer agreement, they are REQUIRED to give you his or her contact info.

Let us know.

Now you guys got me going. And, the wife said SHE'D go in and pitch a fit. I'll post pics of my new truck after she's done with them. :driving: Actually, I really don't want anything more but my wheels taken care of. It's not like I drove the thing thru the woods and expected a paint job 'cause I scratched it all up.

Thanks again
