Vibration And My 08 Z71 1500 Silvrado

Hello guys,

I did a search and read 8 pages of misc vibration problems but mine seems a bit different. My truck is an 08 1500 4x4 z71 silverado. from day one at 40-50mph with your foot lightly on the gas pedal there is a vibration that comes from the dash/fire wall area and it sounds like it is pretty centered. It is loud enough that I can here with the radio going and a descent level. As soon as I take my foot off of the gas pedal it goes away and I can make it come back if my speed is 45 and I touch the gas pedal. It is realy loud and I can almost feel it as well.

Like I said it has done it from day one, I have put a RC leveling kit on it about a month ago and it still does it. My tires are stock bridgestones and they have been rotated but the vibration is still there. :( Anyone have any thoughts? It is starting to drive me nuts since my drive to work everyday is about 40-50 mph and I hear it all of the time.

Thanks,

Has the dealer looked at it? Should be warranty.

And can you clarify what the problem is? Is it a vibration or a noise? At first I thought you're talking about a bad vibration, which is felt, but the later you say you can 'almost' feel it.... Which means its more of a noise?

If its a noise, is it a thudding sound? Grinding? Squeaking? Metallic or plastic?

Good point, I would then call it more of a Noise, thudding sound coming from center dash fire wall area.

I havent taken it to the dealer yet but I may if I can't figure it out.

Is it a constant thudding sound or intermittent?

And is it fast or slow? (does it seem to follow the engine rpm)

Any performance loss noticeable when you hear the sound too?

My truck is the same as yours and had the same thing happening from day one. At 55 - 59 mph. It was the tailshaft they replaced it and now it is smooth as silk! There is a TSB on this problem. I hope this helps

Take care,

Matt

I think you problem would be your oil dipstick vibration on the battery cable. I had this happen on low rpms and all I did is zip tie it to the cable so it can not vibrate. Give this a shot if the cable and dipstick are touching.

Or it could be the coolant overflow tank vibrating on the fender.

There are TSB out for both issues. But give the dipstick and battery cable a try.

What is the tailshaft? I have never heard of it.

Thanks

Well guys I zipped tied the battery cable and oil dipstick together since they were touching, I also zipped tied the coolant overflow hose to the air intake since they were touching as well. I have drove the truck a week and I haven't had the noise since. :)

Thanks for the suggestions.
