Might as well get this off my chest...I found out Friday late afternoon at work

 

Don't really know how this going to affect anybody, but the latest word (thru the Store GM) is that it is a definite...GM will be filing for Bankruptcy by June 1, 2009.

 

I know alot of you are truck shopping, getting prices, etc...

 

Just keep this info in the back of your minds.

 

We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed that we can all pull out of this somehow...it doesn't look too promising right now, for Chrysler nor GM..............

The very reason I am wanting to get my deal on a new Sierra purchase done this week hopefully. #1 no matter what happens it'll be covered under the Govt. warranty provision (whatever that might be), #2 to take advantage of current rebate and incentives that are available. Yeah those offers will probably get better in the Fall but the particular truck I am after will be harder to locate also. So I'm buying now.

A GMC 4WD 1500 Z71/AT in Steel Gray Metallic Extended Cab Std. Bed with the SLT CONVENIENCE PACKAGE and Blackwall tires. I've found plenty in a 500 mile radius of my dealer but the combination of options isn't as I want. Lots of Summit White, Onyx Black to be found but myself and the dealer have only be able to locate one that's 125 miles at another dealer with the options I desire.

Anybody know what will happen to people that ordered trucks to be delivered by September? I placed an order in Canada and my truck will be ready by sept. but "ready" is a big word with what I read now...

GM has no mechanics working directly for them in dealerships.

On a side note is was my understanding a Judge in the Chrysler case ruled they could continue paying for warranty repairs and rebates offers. So hopefully none of us will ever have to deal with the Govt. on this. But its a little piece of mind knowing there would be an alternative if something did happen that kept the dealers from preforming any work.
