Neat little trick

I didn't really know what section to put this in, so SiiLT, yZR2k, General Lee 01 you can move it to where ever you think it should be.

While working on my Beretta this weekend, I had drained out the manual trans mission fliud to change the drivers side half shaft.  After everything was completed I realized I had no new gear oil, so I went to a few parts stores and all were out as well.  I needed to have the car up and running this evening, so I had to reuse the old gear oil.  What i did was took one of my wifes hose and stuck one end in the funnel and stretched the open end around the lip and poured the gear oil through it, like a filter.  It worked pretty good, I caught all kinds of little stuff that was in the bucket.  Since I plan on changing out the  passengers side in the next couple weeks, and draining the whole tranny and putting in new fluid, i wasn't too concerned about it.  It's not something I'd make a habit of, but it  worked good in an "emergency".  LOL

There was a few pieces of sand, some fine dirt, and what looked like a few chucks of grease that was on the side of the transmission from where the fluid dripped down from the drain hole.  Most of the stuff was in the bucket before I drained the fluid.  If I had realized I didn't have any, or if I'd known all the parts stores would be out at the same time, I would have at least cleaned out the bucket before hand.  LOL
