4x Not Engaging

Any suggestions?

We just put a 6" fabtech in the 01 2500HD, would it be simple as the vacuum line or am I missing something else?

When the button is pushed even with the tranny in neutral, it makes the usual klink sound and a second later does it again, the 4x button lighting up only for an instant....then it goes back to 2wd.

I've heard of this happening before with trucks having push button. I personally stay away with push button if I can and always go with shift on the fly. I can't recall off hand, what exactly is happening with your problem, but I know it is a potential problem with other trucks like fords, ect. I would think maybe there might be some corrosion along the way which is causing the system not to work properly, or maybe bad fuse?

The push button modules have a tendency to go bad, you should be able to just switch out the module.

I am really starting to hate this truck.

 

If I pulled the shift motor from the diff and found it turns when the buttons are pushed that should eliminate the module from the problem right?

I've read those motors are high speed/high torque, and I think they come with a sticker on them saying not to operate them while not installed in the transmission as they can break.
