Should I Do Anything About This?

Noticed some tight rust on the frame of my newly acquired '01 Silverado. Is this rust normal or abnormal? Should I be concerned and take action, or will it look just like this 10 years from now without worsening?

I'd say it's normal. I wouldn't worry too much about it if you live down south. If you live up north and have to deal with salt on the roads, then I might take a little time and start to address it. But I wouldn't panic seeing that on a 2001.

yea i wouldn't worry about it.

Although, being how I am.... id spend $20-$30 and get a few cans of that rust inhibiting primer and spray over the whole frame... and then a few layers of undercoating. Piece of mind is priceless IMO.

I would agree if that was rust that I saw on stuff at work that it is of no concern (yet). I work with steel that has been rusting for 80 years and still has its integrity. But you never know with the auto industry. ;-) Sometimes that tight rust is a designed protective coating, and other times you find out they had some bad steel or paint or whatever that year and... I didn't expect to see no rust when I bought the truck, but I'm curious how progressive rust like I have shown can be.
